NOW, for Saturday . . . In which our trusty (tipsy?) Cupids gathered again.
When last we were together the sun was rising, it promised to be a beautiful day. The Promise was kept. Our numbers dwindled a bit, we met in Covent Garden (sorry no pix, I was moving too slowly).
I can’t speak for the others but I was feeling rather like this:
On leaving the Garden we stopped for proper English fish and chips here which greatly boosted my energy. (Look! cute little black dress! I have no idea who that is):
Then someone *cough* marki, LordZippy *cough* told us it was a short walk to Tate Britain. It’s not but it is one of the more beautiful walks through the city. We went past Trafalgar Square and Horse Guards Palace where we almost saw this:
DISCLAIMER OF TRUTH: The next 2 pictures were taken on a different day, when I was moving faster.

We passed Downing Street and the Old War Cabinet Room. A little further on the road the opens and we saw this:

DISCLAIMER ends.
It was an absolutely beautiful day, the likes of which we have rarely seen this summer in London. We talked and walked and then we paused to reflect on the majesty of the Sovereign’s Gate. A NOTE for future visitors – The majesty of Westminster can be rather, um, too majestic with a wee bit of a hangover. Nonetheless, there was no denying the majesty of the Sovereign’s Gate. Behold and Be Awed:
Then we walked and talked a little more and found a lovely little Parliamentary park. Rodin’s Burghers of Calais awaited us (a personal favorite). For the younger Cupids among just us think of it as a classic of emo sculpture, worth googling for their story:
We remembered that our mission was Tate Britain and continued on. I think you’ve guessed that by the time we go there it was closed.
It really didn’t matter because as is with so much in life, it’s about the journey (and the company you keep), not the destination.
TOMORROW: The last day of the weekend – In which our hearty band of Cupids gets their groove back!!
